New limitations on N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAC) and N-methylpyrrolidone (NEP) have been added to Annex XVII of the REACH Regulation, according to updates released by the European Commission. On July 30, 2024, it sent Notification G/TBT/N/EU/1079 to the WTO. Twenty days after being published in the EU Official Journal, these modifications will become operative.
Certain hazardous compounds are prohibited from being sold in the EU under Annex XVII. Since DMAC and NEP are now included, they will be subject to tight regulatory scrutiny. This will guarantee that all goods containing these compounds, whether made or marketed in the EU, adhere to strict safety regulations that safeguard human health and the environment.
