14 Substance Testing Proposals Set for Approval Under REACH Registration

In March, 2025, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) announced the addition of 14 new substance testing proposals and opened a public consultation period, inviting feedback until May 2. This consultation is part of ECHA’s transparent evaluation process to assess whether further testing is necessary for registered substances.

In line with the REACH Regulation, registrants are required to submit a testing proposal (TP) before conducting studies listed under Annexes IX and X, which apply to substances manufactured or imported in quantities of 100–1,000 tonnes per year and over 1,000 tonnes per year, respectively. Following the consultation, ECHA will determine the final testing requirements, considering both stakeholder input and the specific characteristics of each substance.

Through this public input process, ECHA seeks to enhance chemical safety assessments and refine testing protocols based on scientific and stakeholder perspectives. Registrants must complete the required tests and update their safety dossiers to ensure the responsible use of chemicals and support sustainable industrial practices.
