SEB Launches New Fund with 50% Lower Carbon Intensity to Drive Sustainable Investments

  • Focused on Sustainability: SEB launches a global fund investing solely in sustainable companies, classified as Article 9 under EU regulations.
  • Lower Carbon Intensity: The fund’s carbon intensity is about 50% lower than its benchmark, emphasizing its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Diverse Investment Strategy: Targets 500 companies across 20 developed markets, offering global diversification while maintaining a strong sustainability focus.

SEB’s Sustainable Investment Commitment

The SEB Global Sustainable Companies Fund is a novel investment vehicle that rewards businesses that demonstrate exceptional environmental and social responsibility. SEB announced it. Being a leader in sustainable finance, SEB emphasises its commitment to sustainability by aligning this fund as an Article 9 fund with the EU’s Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR).

Meeting Global Standards

The fund is intended to invest in businesses that actively support social and environmental sustainability in addition to avoiding major harm. It is in line with both the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the EU Taxonomy. Elisabet Jamal Bergström, Head of Sustainability at SEB Investment Management, said that “the demand for so-called Article 9 funds, with sustainable investments as a goal, is increasing at the same time as there is interest in index-linked funds,” according to SEB.

Strategic and Systematic Investment Approach

The MSCI World Net Return Index serves as a benchmark for the SEB Global Sustainable Companies Fund, which carefully chooses about 500 businesses among 1,500 in 20 wealthy nations. This strategy minimises the fund’s divergence from the benchmark while maintaining global diversification and following a methodical, rule-driven model.

Reducing Carbon Footprint

A noteworthy accomplishment of the fund is its reduced carbon intensity, which is almost half that of its benchmark index. SEB’s dedication to reducing greenhouse gas emissions is demonstrated by this reduction.

A Cost-Effective, Sustainable Solution

SEB wants to provide an affordable investing choice without sacrificing returns or sustainability.

By offering investors a way to promote sustainability and have a positive impact, SEB is investing in the future of the world through the SEB Global Sustainable Companies Fund, which goes beyond simply investing in businesses.
