The Indian Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (DCPC) has declared that the Quality Control Order (QCO) for morpholine, which was initially supposed to go into effect on August 1, 2024, has been postponed once more, and will now go into effect on May 1, 2025. Originally scheduled to take effect in August 2024, this quality control order was postponed until November in response to industry concerns that extra preparation time was necessary. The goal of this further delay is to give manufacturers and other pertinent industry participants more time to modernize their manufacturing procedures in order to meet the new quality standards.
Manufacturers of morpholine will need to apply for licenses from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) following the implementation of this QCO. The standard mark required by the license must be shown on the products. Only export-oriented morpholine is exempt from the orders. These new directives must be followed by all pertinent manufacturers. Those who disregard the directives will face consequences in line with the 2016 Bureau of Indian Standards Act (BIS Act) requirements.
The DCPC stressed that manufacturers may continue to manufacture, store, or trade morpholine in compliance with the current restrictions until this QCO formally goes into effect.
