About RoHS :
The Directive on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment 2002/95/EC commonly referred to as the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive or RoHS. This directive restricts the use of six hazardous materials in the manufacture of various types of electronic and electrical equipment.
The Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS) in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) Directive (2011/65/EU) was transposed into UK law on 2 January 2013. The RoHS directive took effect on 1 July 2006, and is required to be enforced and become law in each member state. This directive restricts (with exceptions) the use of six hazardous materials in the manufacture of various types of electronic and electrical equipment.
RoHS is the acronym for Restriction of Hazardous Substances. RoHS, also known as Directive 2002/95/EC, originated in the European Union and restricts the use of specific hazardous materials found in electrical and electronic products. All applicable products in the EU market after July 1, 2006 must pass RoHS compliance. RoHS specifies maximum levels for the following six restricted materials:- Lead (Pb): < 1000 ppm
- Mercury (Hg): < 100 ppm
- Cadmium (Cd): < 100 ppm
- Hexavalent Chromium: (Cr VI) < 1000 ppm
- Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB): < 1000 ppm
- Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE): < 1000 ppm
Knowing Exemptions of RoHS:
- The RoHS Directive allows for exemptions from its restrictions. Industry regularly applies for the renewal of exemptions or for additional applications to be exempted from the Directive's requirements. Each request must be evaluated, and when appropriate, an exemption is granted.
- PCCS will assist you to find alternative substance for your products and helps you to manage your DATA cost effectively to place the product in EU market.
