POPs Convention approved the insertion of dechlorane plus/UV-328 to Annex A

The Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (hereinafter referred to as “the Convention”) announced in a press release dated May 15, 2023 that the 11th Conference of the Parties (COP11), which was held in Geneva, Switzerland, from May 1 to May 12, 2023, decided to add the following additive to “Annex A Abolition:-
   

• Chlorine-based flame retardant “Declorane Plus and its cis- and anti-type isomers (CAS
  registration numbers: 13560-89-9, 135821-03-3, 135821-74-8/hereinafter referred to as
  “Declorane Plus”)
• Benzotriazole-based ultraviolet absorbers “UV-328 (CAS registration number: 25973-55-1)
• Eradicating agent (pesticide) “Methoxyclo (CAS registration number: 72-43-5)

Among them, for “Decloran Plus” and “UV-328” it was agreed to apply “time-limited exemptions” for activities related to use.
