On November 12, 2025, the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals under India’s Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers issued several notifications formally withdrawing fourteen BIS Quality Control Orders (QCOs) that applied to certain chemicals, petrochemicals, and polymers. The withdrawal, made under Section 16 of the BIS Act, 2016, takes effect immediately upon publication, with any compliance actions already completed or in progress remaining valid.
