The Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) has introduced a new capacity-building platform designed to equip professionals and businesses with the skills needed to identify, assess, report, and address nature-related issues.
Established in 2021, TNFD builds on the success of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), supporting organizations in managing and disclosing nature-related risks.
TNFD has launched its new capacity-building platform in response to growing demand for upskilling on nature-related issues. This follows the organization’s final recommendations on nature-related risk management and disclosure, published in September 2023, which outline 14 recommended disclosures to support better decision-making by businesses and capital providers regarding nature and biodiversity-related risks, opportunities, dependencies, and impacts.
Since its inception, TNFD has seen strong engagement, with over 1,700 organizations joining its TNFD Forum and more than 520 companies and financial institutions committing to nature-related corporate reporting. Its guidance documents have been downloaded over 300,000 times in the past year.
The platform launches with two key tools: the Learning Lab, a self-guided training platform featuring nine modules with videos, case studies, webinars, and interactive content to help professionals understand TNFD recommendations; and the Trainer Portal, a white-label content suite designed for in-house training teams, academic institutions, and professional training providers to integrate TNFD-aligned materials into sustainability training programs.
