On 11 August 2025, the European Commission adopted Commission Regulation (EU) 2025/1731, amending Annex XVII of the REACH Regulation to tighten restrictions on Carcinogenic, Mutagenic, or Reproductive Toxic (CMR) substances.

Regulatory Timeline The restrictions on the newly listed Category 1B CMR substances will enter into force on 1 September 2025, with direct applicability across all EU Member States.
