On August 19, 2025, the Solid Waste and Chemicals Management Center under the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) issued a notice extending the deadline for applications to postpone the disclosure of chemical substance identification information.

The notice applies to substances with environmental management registration certificates under the Measures for the Environmental Management Registration of New Chemical Substances (MEE Order No. 12) and the earlier Measures for the Environmental Management of New Chemical Substances (MEP Order No. 7), as well as substances listed on the Inventory of Existing Chemical Substances in China (IECSC). For such substances, the maximum protection period for identification information, such as chemical names, runs until December 31, 2025.

Applicants may apply to extend the protection period for up to five additional years. Registration certificate holders must submit postponement applications at least six months before the current protection expires.

The new deadline for submission has been extended to September 15, 2025. The Solid Waste and Chemicals Management Center urges certificate holders needing extensions to prepare justification materials and submit applications through the Online Registration System for New Chemical Substances in order to remain compliant.
