On September 1, 2025, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) launched a public consultation under the EU’s REACH Regulation (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals) on the proposal to identify three substances as Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs). Stakeholders are invited to submit scientific and technical comments by October 16, 2025.

Company Obligations When Products Contain SVHCs

· Safety Data Sheets (SDS): Must be provided to downstream users when SVHCs are sold individually or in mixtures ≥0.1%.

· Information to Consumers: Free-of-charge details must be provided within 45 days if an article contains SVHCs >0.1% (w/w).

· ECHA Notification: Required within six months if an article contains SVHCs >0.1% (w/w) and annual volumes exceed 1 ton.

· SCIP Notification: Mandatory since January 5, 2021, under the EU Waste Framework Directive for articles containing SVHCs >0.1%.
