China Issues GB Standards for RoHS Regulation

On Aug. 1, 2025, China’s State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) issued a new mandatory national standard, GB 26572-2025, titled Requirements for Restricted Use of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products. The standard will take effect on Aug. 1, 2027.

Products manufactured or imported before the effective date will have a grace period and may comply with the standard starting from the 13th month after enforcement.

While the new mandatory standard aligns with the content of GB/T 26572-2011 (including its first amendment sheet) and SJ/T 11364-2024, it introduces several updates:

Implementation Timeline

· From Jan. 1, 2026: GB/T 26572-2011 (including its first amendment sheet) and SJ/T 11364-2024 will be enforced concurrently.

· From Aug. 1, 2027: GB 26572-2025 will come into force, and SJ/T 11364 will be repealed.
